Manchester Nepali Samaj had the distinct honour of participating in the much-anticipated Didsbury Festival on Saturday, 6th June 2026. As one of the most beloved annual community gatherings in Manchester, the festival brought together local schools, charities, and community groups for a brilliant day of connection, creativity, and shared celebration. This year, the official theme of the festival was “The Wild Wonders.” Embracing this theme wholeheartedly, our community used the platform to proudly showcase the unique biodiversity of Nepal alongside our vibrant cultural heritage.
The festivities kicked off with the famous carnival procession through the streets of Didsbury, concluding at Didsbury Park. Leading our march was a
large banner reading “Nepal’s Endangered Animals: Protect Our Wildlife, Protect Our Future.” The kids did a fantastic job preparing for the event, dressing up as animals and creating their own beautiful banners and placards showcasing the endangered animals of Nepal. They walked side by side with parents, highlighting some of Nepal’s most iconic and vulnerable species, from the majestic One-Horned Rhinoceros and the elusive Bengal Tiger to the adorable Red Panda. Alongside the environmental message, our community brought a rich burst of culture to the streets, proudly parading the unique flags of Nepal and wearing beautiful traditional attire.
MNS also set up a food stall that brought the authentic flavours of Nepal straight to Didsbury. We served up a delicious menu of fresh, homemade favorites including sweet, crispy Sel Roti with savoury Tarkari, tangy Achar, and spicy Pani Puri. The stall was an absolute hit, drawing long queues and rave reviews from festival goers who loved trying the traditional dishes.
An event of this scale is only possible through collective dedication. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the executive members, coordinators, food preparation team, parents, and especially the creative young volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare the banners, placards, props, and delicious food. Your incredible energy, teamwork, and community spirit truly made the day a massive success. We look forward to many more events where we can continue to stand together, share our heritage, and make a positive impact in the wider Manchester community.
