Preserving Our Roots: Manchester Nepali Samaj Launches Nepali Language Classes for Children
Language is a vital link to our heritage, identity, and culture. To help the younger generation of the Nepali diaspora stay connected to their roots, the Manchester Nepali Samaj, led by Mr. Jiban Gautam, launched Nepali language classes for children on 20th August 2023.
At the outset of the program, the valuable contributions of Anita Khadka and Anne Shrestha were recognized. Since then, Anita Khadka has continued to lead the classes with unwavering dedication and passion. This initiative plays a crucial role in ensuring that the next generation of Nepali children in Manchester remains connected to their linguistic and cultural heritage.
Every Saturday morning from 9 AM to 10 AM, the Manchester Nepali Samaj hosts engaging Nepali language classes for children at the Ladybarn Community Hub. These classes provide a fun and educational environment where kids can immerse themselves in learning the Nepali language through interactive activities, songs, and stories.
The initiative aims to connect younger generations with their cultural heritage. In addition to the classes for children, the Manchester Nepali Samaj also offers Nepali language classes for adults, ensuring the entire community has the opportunity to learn and embrace the language. Entire families can participate in these educational sessions, creating a supportive and culturally enriched environment.
Anita Khadka leads children’s classes. She is an experienced teacher and educator who is passionate about children’s education. Her class focuses on engaging children with fun and interactive activities to help them learn the Nepali language. The classes are designed to build a strong foundation in vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills while also imparting an understanding of Nepali culture and traditions.
Through the encouragement of curious minds and the dedication of inspiring teachers, we empower children to carry forward the beauty of our language and culture.
Dr. Kamal Rauniyar runs adult classes. Dr. Rauniyar is a respected Nepali language instructor and cultural expert. His adult Nepali language class aims to deepen adults’ understanding and fluency in the language. The curriculum is tailored to adult learners, with a focus on advanced grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and conversational proficiency. Dr. Rauniyar’s classes also explore cultural nuances, making the learning experience both comprehensive and enriching.
