On the 13th of April 2025, Manchester Nepali Samaj hosted a vibrant and heartwarming celebration to welcome the Nepali New Year 2082. The event took place at St Kentigern’s Parish Hall in Fallowfield, bringing together members of the community for an evening filled with culture, laughter, music, and unity.
The program was gracefully hosted by Dipak Regmi and Anita Khadka, whose warm and engaging presence kept the evening flowing smoothly.
The celebration opened with a welcome speech by the President of Manchester Nepali Samaj, Dr. Damodar Khanal, who expressed his heartfelt wishes for the new year. In a touching and poetic moment, Dr. Khanal also read a beautiful poem to mark the arrival of the new year—reflecting on hope, renewal, and the shared strength of community.
Following the opening, children from the community lit up the stage with colorful cultural dances and sweet songs. Community members also took part in musical performances, filling the hall with melody and joy.
A delicious spread of cuisine was served and thoroughly enjoyed by all, adding flavor and warmth to the festive occasion.
The program also included the introduction of the new organizational committee members, warmly welcomed by the audience. At the same time, the community expressed heartfelt thanks to the outgoing committee members for their unwavering dedication and service. Their contributions over the years were warmly recognized and deeply appreciated.
To honor the performers and volunteers, tokens of appreciation were distributed as a gesture of gratitude. Their energy, passion, and effort truly made the night unforgettable and brought the festive spirit to life.
Special acknowledgment and recognition was given to Mrs. Anita Khadka, Mr. Kamal Rauniyar, and Mr. Ujjwal Pratap Bhujel for their continuous support and valuable contributions to the Samaj. Mrs. Khadka and Mr. Rauniyar’s dedication to running the Nepali language class has been instrumental in preserving our connection to our roots. Their efforts ensure that our younger generation remains connected to the Nepali language and culture, keeping traditions alive for years to come.
The night came to a joyful close with an open dance floor, where everyone—regardless of age—joined in to dance, laugh, and celebrate. From young children to elders, the floor was full of life and movement, as the beats of Nepali music brought people together in a moment of pure unity and happiness. It was a beautiful way to end an evening that celebrated both tradition and community spirit.
Manchester Nepali Samaj would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and made the event truly special. Your presence and participation are what make our community so vibrant and strong.
